Capital, St. Thomas and Gordon kept long win streaks alive, while Wittenberg lost its third game out of the last four in Division III men's basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Capital won its 12th consecutive game, scoring 61 points in the opening 20 minutes en route to a 98-85 win vs. John Carroll. All five of Capital's starters scored in double figures with Austin Schreck leading the way with 19.

No. 16 St. Thomas and MIAC rival Augsburg each scored 63 points in regulation. It was 49-42 over three overtime periods as the visiting Tommies pulled out the victory 112-105. UST freshman Anders Nelson came alive in the overtimes, scoring 22 of his 37 points after regulation ended. He also added seven rebounds, and seven assists, including big free throws down the stretch to preserve the lead. Augsburg had three players with double-doubles, led by Booker Coplin with 34 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists.  St. Thomas remains undefeated in conference; Augsburg drops to 6-3.

Gordon won its 14th consecutive game in dramatic fashion as the Scots outlasted Roger Williams, 94-91 in overtime. Eric Demers led all scorers with 35 points and six rebounds, including a 3-pointer to send the game to eovertime. , while teammate Garrison Duvivier led all rebounders with 17 while also adding 33 points. Gordon improved to 15-1, 7-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference, while RWU fell to 8-8, 5-2.

Wooster sent reeling Wittenberg to its third loss in four games, as Keonn Scott scored a career-high 14 points off the bench to lift the No. 25 Scots past the No. 13 Tigers 73-65. Wooster went on runs of 15-2 and 13-2 in the second half to take charge in the contest. Danyon Hempy scored a team-high 16 for Wooster (12-3, 7-1 NCAC) while Connor Seipel scored 18 and added 10 rebounds for Wittenberg (11-4, 5-3).

Tom Coyne scored a game-high 24 points and Bates led No. 3 Williams by as many as 14 points in the first half but the Ephs (15-0, 4-0 NESCAC) rallied in the second half to defeat the Bobcats by a final score of 75-69. Coyne came off the bench to hit seven of 11 3-pointers for Bates (4-12, 1-3).

Trailing Linfield by three with 2:45 to play, visiting Whitworth outscored the Wildcats 9-3 down the stretch for a hard-fought 78-75 victory in McMinnville, Oregon. Ben College converted a three-point play and Jordan Lester followed witha 3-pointer to turn a 72-69 deficit into a 75-72 lead with 1:22 to go. After a defensive stop, Kyle Roach hit a fallaway jumper in the key to give the Bucs a 77-72 lead with 22 seconds left. Linfield (12-4, 4-2 NWC) answered with a three-point play followed by a College foul shot before Liam O'Reilly missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer in the final seconds and Whitworth (13-2, 5-1) secured the rebound.

Led by a career-high 26 points from freshman Alex Cho, No. 8 MIT pulled away late for an 84-69 home win over Wheaton (Mass.), bouncing back from its midweek loss at Emerson. Daniel Unruh hit a 3-pointer to force overtime, but Marietta put away Ohio Northern in the extra period to defeat the Polar Bears 87-80. Jason Ellis led the 10th-ranked Pioneers with 25 points off the bench, while Caleb Hoyng added 13 points and 15 rebounds in the win. All-America center Ryan Bruns scored a game-high 31 points and added 15 rebounds for Ohio Northern. 

UW-La Crosse remained unbeaten in WIAC play and sent UW-Whitewater to its third loss in four league outings with a 75-60 win in La Crosse. Andre Brown scored 17 to lead the Warhawks (12-3, 1-3) but UWW turned the ball over 15 times compared to just six for the Eagles (11-4, 4-0). Ben Meinholz scored 23 points on 10-for-16 shooting, while Brendon Manning added 20 points and Ethan Anderson had 16 off the bench in the win.

Cooper Cook scored a game-high 28 points and Ryan Garver added 24 points and 11 rebounds as top-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan won its 27th consecutive game, defeating Wartburg 89-73. The Prairie Wolves opened the second half on a 10-0 run to push their lead to 13 points.

Sheldon Adams scored 23 points on a game-high five 3-pointers, but it was not enough as No. 17 Plattsburgh State erased a second-half deficit and scored the game-winning layup with five seconds remaining in an 85-83 win over visiting Buffalo State. THe Bengals led by eight on multiple occasions in the second half before Plattsburgh went on a 21-7 run.

Austin Wrighten hit a layup with 16 seconds left to lift No. 22 Lynchburg past Virginia Wesleyan, capping a comeback from a 64-58 deficit in the final four minutes. Wrighten finished with 15, while T.C. Thacker had 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Connor Schraeder scored a game-high 17 points.

Grinnell added another line into its men's basketball program record books, but it had nothing to do with 3-pointers or scoring. Instead, the Pioneers tied a school record for blocked shots. Grinnell blocked 13 of Lawrence's shots in a 135-104 win. Vinny Curta had 35 points to lead the way for Grinnell (11-4, 7-2 Midwest Conference). Dawson Keller and Will Bebee had three blocks apiece in the win.

Aston Francis had a game-high 36 points and led his team with 11 rebounds and four assists as Wheaton (Ill.) improved to 12-4, 5-2 in the CCIW with a 92-85 win at Elmhurst. The Thunder scored the first seven points of the second half to erase a Bluejays lead and led for the final 13:14 as Elmhurst fell to 9-7, 4-3. Jeremy Ireland led Elmhurst with 22.

Jake Ross scored a career-high 42 points in 30 minutes, going 15-for-24 from the floor in Springfield's win vs. Emerson. It's just the fifth win of the season for the Pride, who are 5-10 after reaching last season's Final Four. Springfield has gone 3-4 in its past seven games after a 2-6 start.
