The Emory men and Austin women improved to 4-0 with thrilling wins at home over ranked opponents while the Texas-Dallas men brought Whitworth back down to earth and the Illinois Wesleyan women dominated DePauw.

Romin Williams buried a three-pointer as time expired in overtime to lift No. 18 Emory over No. 22 Maryville 96-93 in the Eagles' Thanksgiving Classic. Emory (4-0) appeared to be on its way to a three-point win in regulation until the Scots' Dante Hoppa nailed a three with two seconds left to send the game to overtime. The Eagles opened the extra period with threes from Williams and Matt Davet but Maryville (0-3) hung tough and pulled even at 93 on Joshua Brooks bucket in the lane. Emory called time out and inbounded the ball to Williams who raced up the floor and hit the game-winning shot from just beyond the top of the key. Williams led the Eagles with 26 points on 8-for-19 shooting. Calvin Songster scored 38 for Maryville.

Micah Elan scored seven of his game-high 38 points in double overtime and Pomona-Pitzer beat No. 4 Whitman 112-109 in Southern California. Pomona-Pitzer held a six-point lead with less than a minute left in regulation, but Jack Stewart nailed two 3-pointers to pull Whitman even and send the game to overtime. The Blues led 98-95 with 11 seconds left in the first extra period when the Sagehens called timeout and drew up an inbounds play that went one sideline to the other where Daniel Rosenbaum splashed home a three. After Corbin Koch split a pair of free throws to give Pomona-Pitzer a 112-109 lead, Whitman had two more looks at game-tying threes but both fell short.

Elan shot 13-for-24 and made six 3-pointers for Pomona-Pitzer (4-0). Austin Butler finished one point short of a triple-double for Whitman (4-1), registering nine points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.

Nate Schimonitz had a flawless shooting performance and No. 1 Nebraska Wesleyan stayed perfect by drubbing Olivet, 100-70. Schimontiz went 10-for-10 from the field, including 7-for-7 from three, and also made his only free throw attempt. He finished with 28 points including the 1000th of his career. Ryan Garver added 11 points, 10 assists and four steals for the Prairie Wolves (6-0).

No. 5 MIT shot 62 percent from the floor and led Keene State wire-to-wire in the Engineers' 96-76 victory. Tim Roberts flirted with a triple-double, tallying 26 points, nine rebounds and six assists for MIT (3-1). The other ranked New England teams in action also posted wins. No. 8 Williams had four starters and a reserve player score double figures in an 85-73 win at Manhattanville. No. 12 Hamilton rode Michael Grassey's big game (24 points, nine rebounds, five assists) to a 10-point win over Transylvania at Carnegie Mellon's weekend event.

Texas-Dallas dominated the glass and Dimitrius Underwood dominated just about everywhere as the Comets (4-1) grounded No. 6 Whitworth, 88-79. Texas-Dallas outrebounded the Pirates (3-1) by 20 and Underwood led the Comets with 29 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. No. 23 St. Olaf avoided a winless non-conference season as the Oles defeated Bethany Lutheran, 81-68. Austin Korba scored a career-high 31 points for St. Olaf (1-4) which opens MIAC play against St. Mary's (Minn.) on Wednesday night.

Outside the Top 25, former System team Redlands defeated current System team Greenville 130-119. Hass Berry came off the bench to lead Redlands (3-2) with 35 points in 20 minutes. Recap

Saturday women: Let's be Frank - 'Roos win again

Austin College made enough free throws down the stretch to hold off No. 22 Texas-Dallas 60-57 in a battle of 3-0 South Region teams.

Austin and Texas-Dallas battled back-and-forth in the fourth period with the Comets (3-1) taking the lead 51-50 on Raenett Hughes' jumper with 3:12 to play. Bryce Frank answered with a layup on the 'Roos' next possession and then, after a series of empty possessions, Frank extended the lead with two free throws to 54-51. Hughes scored again to pull the Comets within one point with 19 seconds left. The Comets fouled Addison Walling who made two free throws for Austin (4-0) and, after Texas-Dallas cut the lead to 58-57, Walling put the game away with two more free throws.

Hughes finished with 19 points for Texas-Dallas which has been playing without All-American Victoria Pena since she injured her ankle in the season opener.

No. 12 Illinois Wesleyan jumped out to a big lead over No. 13 DePauw and never looked back as the Titans dominated the Tigers 80-60. Illinois Wesleyan (3-2) made three 3-pointers in the opening three minutes and built a 30-12 lead at the end of one period. Nina Anderson, Maddie Meritt and Riley Brovelli scored 14 points apiece for the Titans, who will play No. 18 Washington U. in the tournament final tomorrow. The Bears (2-1) shut down event host Rose-Hulman 62-37.

Ohio Northern topped Ohio Wesleyan 66-64 in overtime on Jenna Dirkson's buzzer-beating layup. The Battling Bishops split a pair of free throws with 53 seconds left in the extra period, giving them a 64-62 lead. Dirkson scored the game-tying layup on the Polar Bears' next possession and then had the game winner after Ohio Wesleyan missed a potential game-winning shot of its own.

Mary Baldwin rolled over York (N.Y.) 74-42 and improved its record to 5-1. The Squirrels won four games combined during the previous six seasons.
