Neumann University will have a new head women's basketball coach when it begins play in its new conference this fall. The University announced that Frank Farnese, who is the program's all-time leader for coaching victories, is stepping down.

"I'm very proud of what we were able to accomplish in my 13 years as a coach at Neumann," Farnese said in the school's release. "It was an honor to return to my alma mater and learn what it takes to be a successful college coach."

Farnese was a two-sport athlete at Neumann where he played four years on the Knights' baseball and men's basketball teams. He took over as the women's head basketball coach in 2005-06 and turned around a Knights' program that had just one winning season since joining the NCAA in 1993-94. Neumann won back-to-back CSAC titles and made NCAA Tournament appearances in 2010 and 2011. The Knights fell one game short of a third NCAA Tournament trip last season, losing to Cabrini 71-64 in the CSAC tournament final.

Farnese finished with a 208-144 record. 

"Frank's passion for the game and for Neumann has always been tremendous", said Neumann athletic director Chuck Sack.  "He, and his family, have always been invested in every season and for all of their contributions we are so very grateful.  He will always be a Neumann Knight."

The University has begun a search for his replacement.
