Cornell College promoted Dave Schlabaugh to head men's basketball coach from his position as the Rams' lead assistant. He replaces Chad Murray who resigned to take the head coaching job at Pacific Lutheran.

Interim Director of Athletics Jeff Meeker announced the hire.

"We are thrilled to have Coach Schlabaugh take the reins of our men's basketball program," Meeker said in the College's release. "His character, passion for our student-athletes and extensive coaching experience make him a perfect fit for Cornell."

Before working as an assistant on Murray's staff, Schlabaugh was the head coach at Williamsburg (Iowa) High School for seven seasons. He was also an assistant at his three alma maters -- Mid-Praire High School in Wellman, Iowa; Iowa Lakes Community College and NAIA member Morningside College.

"I'm honored to work with a great athletic staff here. I think Cornell is such a unique institution, and to be able to recruit student-athletes is special," Schlabaugh said in the release. "I'd also like to thank my family for all the support they have given me."

Cornell finished 12-12, 10-8 in the MWC last season.
