Ohio Wesleyan pulled itself into three-way tie for first place in the NCAC by beating No. 12 Denison 82-77 on Wednesday night.

Ohio Wesleyan led the Big Red 61-60 midway through the fourth period when Ben Simpson took over the game. Simpson scored 10 points over a four-minute span and staked the Battling Bishops to a 71-65 lead. Fellow preseason All-American Nate Axelrod scored Ohio Wesleyan's next six points to keep the lead at two possessions and Axelrod put the game away by making two free throws with 11 seconds remaining. Ohio Wesleyan, which was ranked No. 8 in the preseason, is tied for first with Denison (17-3, 11-2 NCAC) and Wooster (14-6, 11-2 NCAC) in the conference standings. Wooster survived a major scare when Milt Davis made a layup with 11 seconds left to lift Wooster over one-win Oberlin, 69-68. The game-winning shot was Davis' only made field goal of the game. No. 4 UW-River Falls continued its march through the WIAC with a 73-59 win over UW-La Crosse. The Falcons (19-1, 9-0 WIAC) have won 17 straight since losing at Hope in their third game of the season. No. 9 Ramapo got some help in its quest for the top seed in the NJAC tournament. The Roadrunners beat Rutgers-Newark 68-63 and Rowan cooled off second-place TCNJ, 88-74. Ramapo is two games in front of the Lions and No. 24 New Jersey City University, which took care of Kean, 78-60. NJAC standings
Methodist edged Greensboro 92-90 in overtime to claim first place in the tight USA South Athletic Conference standings. Davion Ayabarreno poured in 33 points on 13-for-19 shooting for the Monarchs who sit a game up on Greensboro and Averett and two up on Maryville and Piedmont. USAC standings
Conner Myslowski scored five points in the final 24 seconds to push Mount St. Joseph past Anderson, 80-79. The Lions moved a game in front of the Ravens and remain tied with Hanover for first in the HCAC. Hanover also won a nailbiter when Cam Fails saved the Panthers by hitting the game-winning jump shot with five seconds left to beat Transylvania 70-69. HCAC standings
Randolph-Macon stumbled at archrival Hampden Sydney where the Tigers snapped the Yellow Jackets' 11-game winning streak, 63-56. Hamdpen-Sydney (8-12, 4-7) outscored Randolph-Macon 30-12 in the paint. The loss pushes Randolph-Macon back into a tie for first place with Guilford. The Quakers took care of business at home against Randolph, 69-61. ODAC standings
St. Thomas edged Gustavus Adolphus 59-57 on Grant Shaeffer's jump shot with two seconds left. The Tommies have won 12 of their last 13 and have a 1.5 game lead on St. John's in the MIAC. Tyler Weiss scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and the Jonnies defeated St. Olaf, 78-71. MIAC standings
