Adrian College named alumnus and former Trine assistant coach Kyle Lindsay as its new head men's basketball coach. He replaces Mark White who resigned in July to take a high school athletic director and coaching position near Detroit.

"We are very excited to welcome Kyle Lindsay back to Adrian College as the men's basketball head coach," College Athletics Director Mike Duffy said in a release. "We look forward to seeing Kyle build upon the foundation that was established by Mark White and watch the program take the next step.

"During the interview process Kyle impressed me with his extensive knowledge of the Adrian College men's basketball program."

Prior to accepting the head coaching position with the Bulldogs, Lindsay helped lead Trine to five consecutive appearances in the MIAA semifinal round, making it to its first MIAA championship game appearance last season, first NCAA Division III national ranking (#23) and a winning record during all five years he was on the Thunder's coaching staff.

Lindsay was an assistant coach for the Trine men's basketball program since 2011 where he helped the development of five First Team All-MIAA athletes. Those five athletes included the 2013 MIAA Player of the Year and Third-Team All-American Ian Jackson and Jared Holmquist who was a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-American Player of the Year and a two-time First Team All-MIAA selection in 2015 and 2016.

"I'm thrilled to return to my alma mater," said Lindsay. "I am grateful for the opportunity given to me by President Docking, Mike Duffy and the search committee.

"I am fortunate to take over a program that was left in great shape by Mark White and we are committed to building on the tradition and success of bulldog basketball."

The Toledo, Ohio, native spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant coach at Illinois College where he helped the men's basketball team finish with the best season for the program in 33 years with a mark of 16-8 overall.

The 2009 graduate started his coaching career at Ottawa Hills High School where he spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the varsity boys' basketball team. The Green Bears achieved a winning record and were conference champions during his tenure.

Lindsay earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from the College. While a student-athlete, he played football for four years and basketball for one. He was named a First Team All-MIAA punter in 2005.

Adrian went 13-12, 6-8 in the MIAA last season.
