Kristin Karat moves to the Lehigh Valley after coaching at Granby (Conn.) Memorial High School last season. |
Cedar Crest announced Kristin Karat as the head women's basketball coach and coordinator of athletic operations. In addition, Karat will also serve as the strength and conditioning Coach.
Karat takes over a Cedar Crest program that was 0-25, 0-16 in the CSAC last year. She replaces Asha Jones, who coached one season. The Falcons have had just two winning seasons since 1993.
"I am honored to serve as the next basketball coach at Cedar Crest College, and to lead this program back to CSAC title contention," stated Karat. "I want to thank Dr. Snook and the committee for allowing me this opportunity, and I also want to thank Coach Carla Berube and Coach Dean Godin for preparing me for this day. I accept this role with great excitement and pride and I cannot wait to begin working with my student athletes."
Karat finished up this past season at Granby Memorial High School in Connecticut where she was the assistant coach. Prior to her year there she was the Head assistant women's basketball coach at Nichols College where she assisted in all aspects of the program.
Karat was also a key member of Carla Berube’s coaching staff at Tufts where she helped the Jumbos achieve a 78-13 record. She was the head assistant basketball coach for Tufts for three seasons including the Jumbos’ first appearance in the Final Four.
Karat graduated from Becker with a B.S. in exercise science, where she was the starting point guard and captain, earning a spot on the all-conference first team and second team her junior and senior year and was named to the WABCA First Team. She was part of the programs first ever NAC championship which earned them a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
