St. John Fisher was unable to rally from a big deficit, while schools such as St. Norbert and Methodist did complete the comeback in Division III men's basketball action on Wednesday night.

St. John Fisher, the No. 10-ranked team and the top seed in the final Wendy's College Classic, fell short of coming back from a 20-point deficit and falling 69-64 to RIT. It was the Cardinals' first loss this season. As the tournament's No. 8 seed, the Tigers improved to 4-2 following the win and move on to Friday's semifinal round. Fisher will go on to play a consolation match against fourth-seeded Brockport. St. John Fisher will play the University of Rochester. Roberts Wesleyan edged Hobart and Geneseo edged Nazareth on the other side of the bracket.

St. Norbert ran its winning streak against Midwest Conference opponents to 46 despite trailing 49-43 with 8:13 left to play. The Green Knights got a defensive stop on the final possession to win 59-57 in a game which featured 16 lead changes and 11 ties.

Griffin Pils and Ben Ryan scored 18 points apiece and the Augustana starting lineup shot 22-for-40 from the floor as the top-ranked Vikings cruised to a 75-55 win at No. 23 UW-Whitewater. The matchup of the 2013 national title and last year's runner-up looked like a heavyweight battle for the first half, as the Warhawks led 29-28 at the break. But Augustana scored the first eight points of the second half and extended that lead to as high as 25 in the second half.

No. 21 Christopher Newport got an early jump on No. 17 Salisbury in the Capital Athletic Conference race as the Captains beat their cross-bay rival Sea Gulls 71-60. Aaron McFarland came off the bench to pour in 27 points in just 23 minutes.

No. 6 Ohio Wesleyan opened NCAC play with an 88-75 home victory over Wooster. The Battling Bishops held the Scots without a field goal for the first five minutes of the second half and built a double-digit lead. Ohio Wesleyan (7-0, 1-0) pushed its lead as high as 22 points in the fourth quarter. Dan Fanelly tallied 22 points and 18 rebounds for Wooster (2-2, 0-1).

No. 22 Catholic dropped its third game in four outings, this time losing at Susquehanna 87-81. Elsewhere in the Landmark Conference, Juniata topped Elizabethtown 63-47 to reach 6-0 for the first time in program history.

Egzon Gjonbalaj posted a triple-double for No. 24 Brooklyn and the Bulldogs outscored Stevens 107-92. Egzon wracked up 34 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists while his brother Edon added 20 points and 10 rebounds.

No. 8 Elmhurst poured in 11 3-pointers and cruised to an 82-50 victory over Adrian, handing the Bulldogs their second loss against five wins this season. 

Irving Aughburns made two 3-pointers in the final minute, including the game-winner with 12 seconds left, in Methodist's 59-57 win at Guilford. Aughburns, who scored eight of his 10 in the second half, knocked down the first with 42 seconds left to give the Monarchs their first lead (56-55) of the second half. Following a Guilford timeout, the Quakers' Will Freeman scored inside off a Trevor Mayo feed to put Guilford back in front by one with 0:22 left. The Monarchs called timeout and went back to Aughburns, who came off a screen near the top of the key where he knocked down the game-winner, capping Methodist's comeback from a 12-point deficit with 8:19 remaining.

Casey Stitzel picked up his 100th career victory with ease as Delaware Valley rolled past King's, 71-44. The Aggies held the Monarchs to 28 percent shooting and forced 21 turnovers.
