The "System," an offensive and defensive philosophy espoused by David Arseneault of Grinnell, has been kind to North Central (Ill.) women's basketball this season. But the System is certainly beatable -- it just took 14 games this season before somebody did it. And that was No. 13 Wheaton, which took down the No. 24 Cardinals on Saturday 100-86.

The Thunder outrebounded North Central 67-35, including 27 offensive rebounds. Hannah Considine had 12 of those offensive boards as part of her 21 overall rebounds and shot 14-for-22 from the floor en route to 36 points.

Wheaton improved to 13-1, 3-0 CCIW.

No. 3 Amherst used great first half shooting to blow past No. 15 Williams, 77-51. The Lord Jeffs shot 67 percent from the field in the first half, including a perfect six-for-six by Marley Giddins who finished with a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds).

Lauren Anklam scored 14 points and Sarah Gamillo came off the bench to add another 14 as UW-Stevens Point dealt No. 11 UW-Oshkosh a 54-47 loss in WIAC action. The starting lineup for the Titans (12-2, 4-1) was just 11-for-42 from the field and 1-for-8 from 3-point range.

No. 2 Thomas More went on a 37-10 run to open the second half and run away from Washington and Jefferson in an 83-53 win. Nikki Kiernan led the Saints with 16 points, while Sydney Moss and Kirsten Paul each added 15.

Sixth-ranked St. Thomas weathered a 17-3 run by Concordia-Moorhead late in the first half and went on to cruise past the Cobbers 74-48. Aside from the run, the Tommies outscored Concordia 71-31. Maggie Weiers had 22 points and nine rebounds to lead UST (13-0, 6-0 MIAC).

After Brandeis scored the first points of the game in its conference opener against No. 8 NYU, the Violets scored the next 10 and never trailed again in a 68-49 victory. Kaitlyn Read had 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals for NYU (11-0, 1-0 UAA).

Nicole Pepe and Muhlenberg grabbed a big win in what is shaping up as a great race in the Centennial Conference.

Leanna Tallamy's layup with 29 seconds remaining lifted Muhlenberg over previously unbeaten Gettysburg, 47-46. McDaniel topped Haverford 61-57 to pull into a three-way tie for first place in the Centennial.

After losing to Wisconsin Lutheran on Tuesday, Benedictine rebounded to beat Concordia (Wis.), 69-53. The Eagles have won seven of eight after starting the season 0-5.

No. 21 Salisbury beat York (Pa.) 91-81 in a game between two teams going in opposite directions. Anna Hackett and Sarah Seipp combined for 48 points for the Sea Gulls (12-1, 6-0 CAC). Shea Wassel had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans (4-9, 0-6 CAC).

Baruch used a 32-7 run sandwiched around halftime to pull away from Brooklyn, 84-60. Sheridan Taylor led the Bearcats with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Four of Baruch's starters scored double-figures and the fifth had eight points.
