With losses by UW-Whitewater and Amherst earlier this week,  a lot of No. 1 votes will be up for grabs in the next Top 25 poll. No. 3 Washington U.  made its case for grabbing them by beating No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan, 90-72.

After trailing by eight points at the half, Illinois Wesleyan rallied to take the lead 53-52 early in the second half. Washington U. guard David Fatoki answered with a jumper and a three-point shot to put the Bears in front for good. Recap

Fatoki flirted with a triple-double as he finished with 28 points, seven rebounds and nine assists. Washington U. shot 54 percent from behind the arc (7-for-13) and outrebounded the Titans by 12. Washington U is 10-0 for the first time since 2002.

Washington U. wasn't the only group of Bears to beat a Top 25 opponent on Saturday. Bridgewater State topped No. 15 MIT 84-77 in overtime. Michael Lofton scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 40 minutes while Kyle Gibson added 26 points.

John Carroll streaked past Wilmington 96-86 for its first 4-0 start in the OAC in a decade. That sets up a showdown with No. 25 Marietta next Saturday. The Pioneers rode Eddy Grenert's 23 points to victory over Heidelberg, 83-77.

Stevenson beat Widener 73-65 to snap the Pride's seven-game winning streak and move alone into first place in the Commonwealth Conference. Franklin and Marshall beat Albright 74-70 to finish a perfect first semester.

No. 7 Richard Stockton improved to 10-0 with a 48-45 road win at Rutgers-Newark. After the Raiders tied the game at 45 in the final minute, Stockton forward Josh Blamon was fouled while taking a three pointer with nine seconds left. Blamon made all three free throws and Rutgers-Newark missed the potential game tying three.

A week after beating Transylvania at the buzzer, Rose-Hulman edged Manchester 55-54 on a Matt Loesing basket with two seconds remaining. Patrick Cuff hit a hook shot as time expired to lift Framingham State over Elms, 62-60.
