The second annual D3hoops.com All-Star Team is just days away from embarking on a nine-day, seven-game jaunt across France and the Netherlands. The diverse, ten-player team is comprised of some of the best Division III men’s basketball players from across the country. The team, which will be gone from May 21-30, is co-sponsored by Sport Tours International, an organization that has been running and managing European basketball trips for more than 25 years.

“This is our second year for the All-Star team and it is already pretty popular,” Sport Tours president Lee Frederick said. “There are over 400 schools in Division III and there are great players all over the country. Many of these guys would love to have the opportunity to play professionally after their collegiate careers and this trip is a great way for them to get started.”

The trip will start from New York City where the group will fly to Paris. Things get going right away as the All-Stars will play St. Charles de Charenton and Tremblay Athletique on May 22 and 23 in France. Both teams are members of the NM2 French Pro League. The team will then travel to Holland and will play two games in Den Bosch. The second of these games will pit the All-Stars vs. the second-team of Dutch Pro Team Den Bosch Eiffel Towers.

On May 27 the team will play in a small, three team tournament in Groningen that will feature players from the Dutch Military Elite Team and the Gasterra Flames pro squad. Things end on a high note for the group as they will play back-to-back games on May 28 in Ljuimen. At 4 p.m. the All-Stars face St4r and will follow that with a 6 p.m. contest vs. VBC Akrides, a second division Dutch Pro Team.

In addition to the full schedule of games the group will sightsee in Paris, Amsterdam and in Den Bosch and Groningen, the Netherlands. The players will also get a glimpse of professional basketball in Europe as they will attend a Dutch League playoff game between Den Bosch and Leiden on May 24. The players will also talk to basketball scouts based in Europe and will have pro league coaches attend some of the games.
