The National Association of Basketball Coaches today announced rosters for the 2012 Reese’s® Division III College All-Star game, which will be played as part of the 2012 NCAA® Division III Men’s Basketball Championship. Reese’s is the official candy partner of the NCAA.
The Reese’s Division III College All-Star game will be played on Saturday, March 17, at 4:30 p.m. (EDT), prior to the NCAA Division III championship game, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Va. The teams are composed of two senior players from each of the eight regions in Division III and two seniors have been selected by online voting on D3hoops.com.
The game will feature a pair of outstanding former coaches who have both been recipients of the NABC Division III Distinguished Service Award. Former Ohio Wesleyan College coach Gene Mehaffey will lead the East team, while former Ohio Northern coach Gale Daugherty was selected to coach the West team.
The senior All-Star players were nominated by coaches and selected by a panel of coaches representing each region in Division III.
Division III is the largest membership division in the NCAA, with approximately 450 member schools, 43 voting conferences and over 170,000 student-athletes.

2002 NABC Distinguished Service Award Recipient Gene Mehaffey (East)
In 20 seasons as head basketball coach at Ohio Wesleyan, Gene Mehaffey compiled 282 wins. His teams won four NCAC championships, three NCAC tournament titles, and in 1988 won the NCAA Division III National Championship. Mehaffey coached for 44 years, 35 as a college head basketball coach, and compiled 525 wins.
2000 NABC Distinguished Service Award Recipient Gale Daugherty (West)
In 20 seasons as head basketball coach at Ohio Northern, Gale Daugherty compiled a 310-218 record and is the winningest coach in school history. His teams won three OAC Championships, had four NCAA Tournament appearances and Daugherty was selected as OAC Coach of the Year three times. While at ONU, his teams led all Division III teams in defense on three occasions, and were ranked in the top 10 nationally 13 times.
