WPI's Ryan Cain and Calvin's Lisa Winkle have been named the winners of the 2007 Jostens Trophy, awarded to the top student-athlete in Division III men's and women's basketball, based on three criteria: basketball ability, academic ability and community service.

She averages 14.9 points and 10.0 rebounds for Calvin, including a double-double (22 and 13) in the Knights' second-round tournament win at Wilmington. She carries a 3.966 GPA in mathematics and secondary education. Winkle, who has won All-American honors in outdoor track seven times, is also a volunteer tutor in the Grand Rapids, Mich., public school system and will start a job as a math teacher next fall.
Cain carries a 3.01 GPA in civil engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, at which he recently completed a project designing affordable manufactured single-family homes for low income families or use in disaster situations. A previous major project, two of which are required for all students in order to graduate, focused on green engineering in the automotive industry. On the court, the guard averaged 19.5 points per game, shooting 50.3% from the floor and 42.4% from 3-point range. He finished his career with a school-record 1,813 points.
Cain and Winkle (if available) will receive their trophies in Salem on Thursday, March 15.
