Title: Around the Nation Columnist

Ryan serves as the lead columnist for D3hoops.com and previously wrote the Mid-Atlantic Around the Region column in 2015 and 2016.  He’s a 2003 history graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, in beautiful Quincy, MA.  He currently lives with his wife, daughter, and two cats in Middletown, Delaware.

Ryan developed a passion for Division III sports in the spring of 2000 as the ENC women’s basketball team made a Sweet Sixteen run, still the only ENC athletic squad to make the NCAA tournament in any sport.  He continued to follow the sport through graduate school in Kansas City, where he endured six years in D3 no-man’s land, and immersed himself more deeply upon moving back to the East Coast in 2010.

Ryan covered the 2016 men’s Final Four in Salem, Virginia, and has attended every incarnation of the Hoopsville Classic.  He’s an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene, has spent most of his professional life in non-profit work, and has written for numerous publications in sports, religion, society, poetry, pop culture, and creative fiction.

When not covering basketball, Ryan is a substitute teacher and executive director of the Middletown Village Community Foundation, a non-profit community development corporation working for the benefit of his neighborhood.

Ryan has been to the highest point in 31 states and is a candidate for President of the United States in 2016.
