1990 Division III women's basketball tournament

Hope never had to leave Holland, Michigan, in winning its first Division III women's basketball national championship. But while the Flying Dutch enjoyed the luxury of staying home, they had to overcome some adversity before winning Walnut and Bronze, as St. John Fisher broke open a 32-32 game with a 20-0 run. Hope rallied with Dina Disney hitting a 3-pointer to tie the game at 63-63 with 13 seconds left. Following a St. John Fisher turnover, Hope inbounded with five seconds left, had the ball stolen, stole it back and was fouled with the clock reading 0:00. After a nine-minute delay, it was determined that there was still about half a second left on the clock, after which Disney came out and hit two free throws to win the game.
