The USA South Athletic Conference is one of the largest in Division III and soon we can strike “one of.” Eighteen months from now it will have 14 men's basketball teams and 19 women's teams. We spoke with Conference Commissioner Rita Wiggs about how the conference evaluates new members and how it balances the interests of existing members.

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, GA – After winning an overtime thriller last night at Maryville, the WPU men's basketball team didn't quite have enough in the tank this afternoon at Covenant. The Pacers had their chances at the end of the game which saw eight ties and 10 lead changes, but the Scots did just enough to hold on, 63-59.
MARYVILLE, TN – The William Peace men's basketball team went 16-of-30 (53.3%) from beyond the arc, equaling the program record for three-pointers made in a game and establishing a new benchmark for three-point field goal percentage, as the Pacers held on in overtime to beat league leading Maryville College, 97-94.
Tufts throttled Amherst in a showdown between the NESCAC's top two women's teams while George Fox won the first game of its big weekend. On the men's side the Midwest was best in the UAA with No. 5 Washington U. and Chicago posting wins.
Demorest, GA – The William Peace men's basketball team jumped out to a 17 point halftime lead but were unable to close it out in the second half. The Pacers fell on the road to Piedmont College, 70-68, in their USA South conference opener.
Hampden-Sydney, VA – The William Peace men's basketball team made a game of it in the second half, but the Pacers committed more turnovers than they have all year, suffering a 75-57 loss at the hands of Hampden-Sydney College Sunday afternoon.
RALEGH, NC – Despite setting a single-game record for made three-pointers, the WPU men's basketball team had their worst shooting performance of the season overall and struggled to get stops on the defensive end of the court, as they fell to the Camels of Connecticut College this afternoon.
RALEIGH, NC – After playing their first eight games of the season on the road, the William Peace men's basketball team finally returned to the Hermann Athletic Center Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately, their homecoming was spoiled by University of Wisconsin-Platteville who trumped the Pacers, 89-64.

HIGH POINT, NC – The William Peace men's basketball team held their own and established a new single-game record making 15 three-pointers against Division I opponent High Point University, but the Panthers were far too dominant down low as they went on to beat the Pacers, 88-71.
DANILLE, VA – The William Peace men's basketball team trailed Emory & Henry by three at the break, but they outscored the Wasps in the second half, 48-30, pulling away for an 84-69 win.
DANVILLE, VA – Chris Thomas scored a school record 30 points to go along with 13 rebounds leading the William Peace men's basketball team past Columbia International, 90-78, on the first day of Averett's Cougar Classic.
GREENSBORO, NC – After an 18 point win over Virginia University of Lynchburg in their season opener, the William Peace men's basketball team found themselves on the opposite end of the spectrum this evening, suffering an 18 point, 90-72, loss to the Quakers of Guilford College in the championship game of the Guilford College Invitational.
GREENSBORO, NC – For the third consecutive year, the William Peace men's basketball team will contend for the Guilford College Invitational championship trophy after topping Virginia University of Lynchburg in their season opener. The Pacers led by 18 at halftime, jumped ahead by as many as 26 in the second half, and went on to down the Dragons, 99-81.
