Conn College Falls to Bates

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team fell by a final score of 73-42 against Bates College on Sunday afternoon at Luce Field House.

The Bobcats shot 53 percent from the field and blocked 11 shots in the contest. Morgan Kennedy led all scorers with 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting, and Alexandra Long and Elsa Dauleiro contributed 14 points apiece. Sophie Spolter added 12 points off the bench as Bates improved to 11-2 overall (1-0 NESCAC).

Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) netted a team-high 13 points and added five rebounds and four steals to pace the Camels. Mia Xerras (Charlotte, N.C.) and Catherine Cole (Lebanon, N.H.) each chipped in eight points while Arliana Torres (Toms River, N.J.) had six.

Conn kept it close at the start thanks to some long-range proficiency. Oberman-Levine, Cole and Xerras each drained a three-pointer in the opening five minutes as the Camels kept pace.

Bates trailed 13-11 but closed the first quarter with a 10-0 run. Sarah Hughes and Danielle Adams each buried threes during the spurt, which left the Bobcats with a 21-13 lead by the end of the period.

Bates took control in the second quarter and bumped the lead to double digits. The Bobcats extended the margin to 35-22 by the break, and Daulerio finished the half with 10 points to lead all scorers at intermission.

The Bobcats stayed hot in the second half, shooting 9-for-13 in the third quarter and 8-for-17 in the fourth. Oberman-Levine did her best to keep the Camels close with seven points in the third period, but Bates never relented.
