Moss Records Fifth Double-Double in No. 2 Saints' 94-45 Win Over Bethany

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – Junior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) recorded her fifth double-double of the season tonight (Wednesday, January 7, 2015) to lead the second-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 94-45 win over Bethany College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 12-0 and 5-0 in the PAC, while the Bison fall to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in the PAC with the loss.

Thomas More jumped out to a 6-3 lead when sophomore forward Kirsten Paul (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian) made a lay-up with 16:37 to play in the first half.  Bethany answered with a 6-0 run to take a 9-6 lead on a Kelsea Daugherty lay-up with 14:07 to play in the half.  The Saints responded with a 34-9 run to take their biggest lead of the half at 40-18 with 45-seconds to play in the opening half when freshman forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) made a lay-up.  Bethany's Carly Grady made a lay-up with 34-seconds to play in the half to cut the Saints lead to 40-20 at the half.

The Saints opened the second half on a 17-5 run capped by a Kiernan three-point play to extend the lead to 57-25 with 12:12 to play in the game.  Bethany used a 4-0 run to cut the lead to 57-29 on a Daugherty jumper with 10:37 to play in the second half.  That is as close as the Bison would come as Thomas More closed out the game on a 37-16 run for the 94-45 victory.

Thomas More shot 52.7 percent from the field, while it held Bethany to 25.4 percent shooting from the floor.  The Saints out-scored the Bison 5016 in the paint and 30-8 off turnovers.

Moss completed her double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Joining her in double-figure scoring was Kiernan with 19 points, senior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 13 points and junior forward Sam Cady (St. Anthony, Minn./St. Anthony Village) with 10 points.  Moss led the team in assists with four, while junior guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) led the team in steals with three.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (January 10) when it travels to Washington, Pennsylvania to play Washington & Jefferson College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside the Henry Memorial Center.
