Women's Hoops Falls In PAC Action to No. 2 Thomas More

Jan. 7 – CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Bethany College women's basketball team dropped a 94-45 decision to the #2 Saints of Thomas More College on Wednesday evening. The Saints came into the contest ranked second in Division III by both USA Today and D3Hoops.com.

The Bison would jump out to a three-point advantage (9-6) early in the first half as freshman Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier) converted on back-to-back layups, the second coming with 14:07 to play in the opening frame. The second-ranked team in the country would respond, however, putting together a 30-6 run over the next 12 minutes to open a 21-point lead (36-15) with 2:24 to play. The Green & White would then go into the locker room trailing by a score of 40-20.

Daugherty played well in the first half of the contest, putting together seven points and eight rebounds in 14 minutes during the opening frame.

The second half would prove to be more of the same as the Saints handed the Bison just their second conference defeat of the season.

Over the course of the contest, Daugherty played well, scoring a game-high 20 points while adding a career-high 13 rebounds. The numbers were good for her third-career double-double, as well her third 20+ point game in her last six contests. Carly Grady (Keyser, W.Va./Keyser) also came out strong off the bench, finishing the contest with nine points.

The Bison will be back in action on Saturday, January 10 when they travel to Waynesburg, Pa. to take on the Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg in a conference bout. The contest is scheduled for a 1:30 tip.
