GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Gwynedd Mercy made 14 three-pointers and shot 50 percent from the field during an 86-44 victory over the Centenary College women's basketball team Saturday afternoon at the Griffin Complex.

GMU earned a pivotal Colonial States Athletic Conference win, moving to 7-4 in league play (10-10 overall), while the Cyclones dropped into seventh place in the conference with a 5-5 CSAC mark (7-12 overall). The top six teams at the end of the regular season earn a bid to the CSAC Tournament.

The Griffins stormed out to a 17-4 lead, drilling a trio of triples during the opening seven minutes of play. Centenary responded by scoring the next six points, the last of which came on a layup from senior guard Klarissa Perry (Englewood, N.J./Dwight Morrow) at the 11:10 mark.

However, the Cyclones would be held scoreless over the next five minutes and GMU took advantage, grabbing a 31-10 lead. Kelsey Yori's third first-half triple handed the Griffins a 42-20 edge heading into halftime.

The three-point barrage continued during the final 20 minutes as Lauren Smith opened the half by burying a three ball and C.J. Hilliard's bucket from beyond the arc with 14:40 to play pushed the Griffin lead to 30.

GMU led by as many as 47 points following Brittany Moore's three-pointer with 4:47 remaining in the game.

Centenary, which was limited to just 29 percent shooting (14-48 FG), was led by Perry's 15 points and seven rebounds. Freshman forward Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) added 12 points and six boards.

Yori canned four triples, netting 16 points, while Natasha Matthews led all scorers with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting. The Griffins held a 40-28 rebounding edge and forced 26 turnovers.

Centenary returns to Hackettstown on Wednesday to face Immaculata at 6:00 pm. The Cyclones will honor their senior class during a Senior Night ceremony prior to the game.
