BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams Women's Basketball team defeated Endicott College in a close game on Saturday afternoon, with an overall score 56-46.

The win for the Hawks snaps a nine-game losing streak to Endicott, giving RWU its first win over the Gulls since a 72-68 victory on February 19, 2005.

The Hawks started out the game strong with a basket by game-high scorer Kaitlyn Bovee (Berlin, Conn.). The Hawks would keep the lead until the Gulls caught up to tie the game with 10:13 left in the first half on a layup by Nicole Heffernan (Londonderry, N.H.). The game would go back-and-forth with five lead changes in the half alone. Endicott would go into the break leading 29-26 points over RWU.

In the second half, Endicott maintained its advantage early on until Abby Marsh (Manchester, Vt.) scored on a jumper, making the score 38-37 in the Hawks' favor with 13:26 to play.

With 8:15 left in the game, Bovee drained a three-pointer to break a 40-40 tied to put the Hawks ahead of the Gulls. From there Endicott would be held to only six points over the rest of the game, as the Hawks came away with the win.

The Hawks were paced by Bovee, who led the team with 21 points and eight rebounds. Paige Congdon (Western, Mass.) nearly had a double-double, going for eight points and 13 rebounds. Hannah Pirez (Bolton, Mass.) added nine points, three boards, and three assists.

All nine Gulls scored in the game, including Jordan Ferland (Charlestown, N.H.) with a team-high nine points and seven rebounds. Samantha Crough (Cohasset, Mass.) added four points and nine rebounds, while Kayleen Whall (Foxboro, Mass.) scored eight points and four boards.
