Women's

Keegan Douglas

Douglas had a monster week as Catholic began the season 3-0. The Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week shot 30-for-46 from the field and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line as Catholic defeated Trinity, Alvernia, and Bridgewater. She opened the season with 20 points in just 25 minutes against the Tigers before logging 36 and 39 minutes respectively against Alvernia and Bridgewater. She shot 11-for-16 against the Eagles, notching a career-high 28 points while grabbing five rebounds, dishing out two assists and forcing one steal.

 

Mia Castillo

Castillo had a significant impact on the first week of the season scoring 34 points in a home win against Yeshiva to go along with seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. The next day she scored even better with 38 points and a career-high 14 steals in a road win at Sarah Lawrence to help the Bearcats off to a 2-0 start in the season. She is currently averaging 36 points, nine steals, and six assists per game.

 

Caydee Kirkham

Kirkham totaled 46 points in Coe's first two games of 2023-24, scoring 18 and 28 in a pair of victories. She started the week with 18 on the road at Cornell, going 5-11 from the field with seven assists, six rebounds, and two steals. The shifty guard then scored 28 points in a win at Monmouth, going 13-21 from the floor and 2-4 from deep. Kirkham added six assists, two steals, two rebounds, and one block. 

 

Natalie Anderson

Anderson just missed two double-doubles to lead the No. 12 Trinity women's basketball team to a 2-0 start, defeating Mary Hardin-Baylor and East Texas Baptist over the weekend. She averaged 20 points and nine rebounds per game over the two victories, hitting 63% (15-of-24) from the field and 75% (9-for-12) from the foul line. Anderson opened the season with a career-high 27 points and nine boards, connecting on 12-of-15 from the field in the win over Mary Hardin-Baylor and followed up with 12 points and nine boards to help Trinity defeat East Texas Baptist. 

 

Julia Blanck

Blanck went 15-for-16 (.938) from the floor to lead the Thoroughbreds to a 2-0 start to open the 2023-24 campaign. She tied her career high with 24 points in a 59-41 win at Middlebury. Blanck was also 10-for-14 on the week from the free-throw line and averaged 21 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, three steals, and two assists per game.

 

Men's

Donyae Baylor-Carroll

Returning for his final season after taking a year off, Baylor-Carroll picked up where he left off, netting a game-high 19 points, dishing out a game-best seven assists, and swiping a game-high seven steals to spark Penn State Harrisburg to a 59-51 comeback victory over Kean. He followed it up by leading the Lions to back-to-back wins over NCAA Tournament teams, scoring a dozen points with a game-high six assists and five steals in an 81-76 overtime victory against Marymount, and scoring a game-high 27 points to go along with game-bests of seven assists and six steals in a 79-71 win over St. John Fisher.

 

Justin Allen

Allen helped the Tartans to three road wins to start the season, including a pair of victories at Whitworth and Whitman in Washington. He averaged 26 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals over the three contests while shooting 56% (28-50) from the floor, 46% (6-13) from behind the arc and converted 15-of-17 from the foul line. Allen started the season recording his second career double-double with 16 points and a career-best 12 rebounds in the Tartans' 92-69 win at La Roche while dishing out six assists. He then scored 27 points in the Tartans' 89-82 win at Whitworth, followed by a career-high 34 points, shooting 62% from the floor with nine boards and eight assists against Whitman.

 

Tavon Jones

Jones helped guide the Bison to a 2-0 opening week, averaging 31 points in wins over Emmanuel and Bridgewater State, shooting 53% from the floor.  He averaged 11 rebounds five assists, three steals, and a block per contest. 61 total points for a 31.0 points per game average while shooting 20-of-38 from the field for a .526 shooting percentage. Additionally, Jones had a 3.3 assist to turnover ratio - excellent at protecting the ball.

 

Jalen Samuels

Samuels filled up the stat sheet in the Blue Jays' first two games of the season, averaging 19 points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals per contest. Samuels shot 58% from the floor and was the key contributor in wins over Yeshiva and at No. 24 Middlebury.

 

Joshua Van Gorp

Van Gorp helped Central go 2-0 at the Loras Mike Moklestead Motors Tipoff Classic. Sunday was his fifth career double-double. His 34 points were two off his career high and his third career 30-point game. On the week, Van Gorp averaged 28 points and 11 rebounds, shooting an outstanding 78% from the floor.
