Millikin Women Roll Past Thunder

After more than a month away from home, the 18th ranked Millikin women's basketball team enjoyed its return to the Griswold Center rolling past Wheaton College 86-47 in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup on January 10 in Decatur, Illinois.

 

Millikin jumped out a 14-2 advantage in the first quarter and never looked back ending the period up 25-11. Millikin led 51-22 at halftime. After six straight games away from home, the Big Blue shot 48 percent (31-64) from the field and made 6-17 (35 percent) from three-point range. Millikin was efficient at the free throw line making 18-20. Wheaton shot 30 percent (15-50) from the field. Millikin won the rebounding battle 42-33.

 

Senior Elyce Knudsen led Millikin with 22 points and a team high seven rebounds. Sophie Darden added 14 points and six rebounds. Bailey Coffman had 12 points and six rebounds. Emily Brenneisen and Christina Rice each had eight for the Big Blue.

 

Annie Tate lead Wheaton with 10 points. Katie Oliver had eight points and 10 rebounds.

 

Millikin is now 12-3, 4-2 while Wheaton falls to 9-6, 2-4.
