Cortland Women Register 77-61 Win at Hartwick

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Lily Woodis (Dewittville/Chautauqua Lake) scored a career-high 16 points and was one of seven Cortland players to score at least six points as the Red Dragons defeated host Hartwick, 77-61, in women's basketball non-league action.
 
Cortland (2-2) will begin SUNYAC play this weekend at home versus Plattsburgh on Friday evening and Potsdam on Saturday afternoon.
 
Woodis made 6-of-11 shots, including 4-of-8 3-pointers, and also dished out three assists. Logan Streety (Elma/Iroquois) scored 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting and pulled in eight rebounds.
 
Bella Zingoni (Kings Park/Long Island Lutheran) netted 10 points, while Brooke Tillotson (Marathon) and Sophie Bissaillon (East Greenbush/Columbia) each scored nine points. Tillotson led the Red Dragons with nine rebounds and four assists. Bissaillon hit two 3-pointers on her only two shot attempts and was 3-for-4 from the foul line. Zingoni grabbed four rebounds and led the team with three steals.
Kaeli McAnally (Islip) added four rebounds and three assists, along with six points, and Mariah Huss (Kenmore/Sacred Heart Academy) tallied six points.
 
Sareen DiCerbo led Hartwick (1-5) with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Isabella Astorino totaled 15 points and seven rebounds and Bree Fargnoli had nine points.
 
Cortland finished the game shooting 46 percent from the field overall and 37 percent (11-of-30) from the 3-point arc. Hartwick shot 32 percent overall and 21 percent (3-of-14) from deep.
 
Cortland used a 10-2 run at the end of the first quarter to take a 23-12 lead. The Red Dragons extended their lead to 28-14 before Hartwick fought back to within five at 37-32 in the final minute of the period. Cortland led 39-32 at halftime and 43-38 early in the third before a 9-0 run, including five points from Woodis, pushed the lead to 52-38. Hartwick closed the score to 52-44 before the Red Dragons tallied 14 of the last 18 points of the quarter to take a 66-48 lead. Cortland's lead was at least 14 points in the fourth.
