Park's Perfect Day Leads Women's Basketball Over Gallaudet

How it Happened

  • Randolph-Macon started the game on a 12-0 run, that saw Jane Elkins (Annandale, Va./Bishop Ireton) scored a quick six points, the run lasted for the first five minutes of the first period. The Bison were able to put five points on the board, as the Yellow Jacket defense held GU to only shooting 21.43 percent from the field as RMC took a 15-6 lead after one period. 
  • The Lemon and Black took their tough defense into the second period, again holding the Gallaudet offense to minimal made shots at less than 35 percent for the first half. Lilly Davis (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresille) made a mid-range jumper to give RMC its biggest lead of the first half at the 1:32 point in the second period. Randolph-Macon shot 40 percent from the field to give them a 50 percent success rate in the first 20 minutes.
  • The third quarter was the Yellow Jackets best quarter of the season out scoring the Bison 36-6 in ten minutes. RMC was 15-for-19 (78%) and ended the third quarter up 68-22 for their biggest lead of the afternoon. Defense was key in the game to match the offense, as Gallaudet shot 3-for-19 in the third quarter. 
  • The Yellow Jackets used the perfect play in the first 30 minutes to milk out the final ten minutes to take home the victory 77-34.

Inside the Numbers

  • Randolph-Macon shot 53.6% (30-56) from the floor. They shot over 50% from the three point line for the second straight game 12-for-22.  
  • RMC had four players score in double-figures in the game. Park shot 5-for-5 from the field, including 3-for-3 from behind the arc for 14 points.
  • Elkins finished the day with 12 points, four rebounds and three assists. 
  • Morgan Miller made four three pointers for 12 points. 
  • Catherine Kagey (Roanoke, Va./Faith Christian) had 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists. 
  • Cait Velez (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan) and Davis combined for 13 rebounds.
