William Paterson Women's Basketball Falls on Road to NJCU

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (11-8, 6-6 NJAC) fell to New Jersey City (9-8, 9-3 NJAC), 74-62, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road game on Jan. 25.


HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Pioneers led by four (33-29) with 8:12 on the clock in the third quarter but the Gothic Knights flipped the script and outscored William Paterson 16-7 the remainder of the frame to grab a 45-40 advantage.
  • New Jersey City maintained its lead and built the advantage to double figures (68-58) following a 13-4 run that began with 4:43 left to play before closing the game out and securing the win.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Senior Justina Cabezas scored 21 points to pair with seven rebounds.
  • It marked her fifth 20-point game of the season and her fourth in her last five outings.
  • Junior Brianna Smith finished with 14 points.
  • Senior Yakira Rosa and freshman Renee Wells finished with nine points apiece.
  • Wells added 10 rebounds to her stat line.
