Inside the Box Score

  • Marlise Newson lead the Blazers in scoring with 15 points. The senior also recorded four assists and had three steals. 

  • Tiffany Manning recorded three rebounds and three assists, in a 12-point scoring afternoon. 

  • Kayla Watkins-Harvey finished the game with eight points and seven rebounds.

How it Happened

  • Hood fell behind to as many as 18 points in the fourth period, before beginning to chip away.

  • After Albright led 67-49 with 7:57 left, the Blazers tried to mount a comeback, going on an 18-8 run in the remainder of the game. Seven different players scored for Hood but Lions iced the game with free throws in the final seconds to end the scoring at 75-67.

  • In the first period, the Blazers tied up the game with a Newson 3-pointer from the corner to put the score at 7-7 with 5:12 left. Hood was still in striking distance as Manning converting a driving lay-up at the horn to head into the second period down 18-16. 

  • The Blazers fought hard in the second period, tying the game on multiple occasions, but never claimed  the lead. Albright took a 38-33 lead into halftime, outscoring Hood 20-17 in the second period. 

  • Albright took control of the game coming out of the locker room, going on a 11-2 run, which was led by Mackenzie Dover's eight points. The Lions' lead was 49-35 with just over six minutes left in the third. 

  • Hood was able to work the score back to 49-42 with 4:40 left, going on a 7-0 run working the ball inside to Watkins-Harvey for two lay-ups.

  • The Lions took a 60-49 edge into the fourth quarter. 

Analysis

  • The Blazers outrebounded the Lions 43-38. 

  • Albright had 20 points off Blazer turnovers. Hood managed to cash in 14 points off the Lions' mistakes.

  • Hood held the edge on points in the paint 46-26.

  • The Lions held the 3-point field goal percentage advantage 36 percent to the Blazers 10 percent. 

For the Opponent

  • Dover shot 10-for-17 from the field, totaling 24 points in the game. The sophomore also had six rebounds and four steals.  

  • Gabby Boggs recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. She also had three steals. 

  • Amina Rauf ended the afternoon shooting 3-for-6 from the behind the arc, totaling 16 points.
