Griffins Get Second Conference Win Defeating Knights

Aston, Pa. - Gwynedd Mercy University (9-8,2-2) looked to continue climbing the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) standings as they traveled to Neumann University (9-8,2-2). Griffins in the first quarter found themselves down 5-2 at the 8:42 mark in the first quarter, however, after a layup by senior guard Kelly Owens (Schwenksville, Pa.) at the 7:22 mark the Griffins would take a 6-5 lead and never look back. Senior forward Haley Crossley (Philadelphia, Pa.) put on a show as she finished 9-21 from the field with a game-high in points (22), rebounds (16), and steals (3) Crossley also finished with two assists and a block.

  • The Griffins as a team dominated the glass as they outrebounded the Knights 57-39.
  • Gwynedd Mercy University finished with 23 offensive rebounds to Neumann's 13.
  • Junior guard Lynzie Eggers (Turnersville, N.J.) had an impressive showing as she finished with 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block. 
  • Gwynedd Mercy's defense held Neumann 16-58 from the field. (28%).



Gwynedd Mercy University continues conference play Saturday, January 21st, when they host Cabrini University for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
