MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Sophomore Sarah Tangen matched her career high with 17 points off the bench and was one of four Oles in double figures, as the St. Olaf College women's basketball team rolled in the second half to a 74-45 victory over Augsburg University on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

Tangen was 6-for-7 from the field, including knocking down both of her three-pointers, on her way to a season-high 17 points for St. Olaf (6-7, 3-7 MIAC), which also got 17 points in 18 minutes from senior Rachel Kelly in the win. The victory snapped the Oles' nine-game losing streak in the series with Augsburg (8-5, 5-5 MIAC) and marked St. Olaf's largest margin of victory in Minneapolis in the series since a 96-66 win on Dec. 7, 1996.

Seniors Cassie Fix and Sophie Olmen joined Tangen and Kelly in double figures with 10 points apiece for St. Olaf, which shot a season-best 56.3 percent (27-for-48) from the field in the game. The Oles also matched their season high with nine made three-pointers and shot at a 45.0 percent clip (9-for-20) from behind the arc.

St. Olaf owned a 42-24 advantage on the glass on the afternoon, led by a career-high-tying 13 rebounds from senior Grace Hegland. Hegland and sophomore Paige Yagodinski added nine points apiece offensively, as Yagodinski knocked down three of the Oles' nine three-pointers.

In the opening quarter, St. Olaf shot 7-for-12 (58.3 percent) from the field on its way to a 20-17 lead through 10 minutes. The Oles made their first four shots and scored on six of their first seven possessions as part of a 13-6 start over the first four minutes before the Auggies clawed their way back. Augsburg held a 17-16 lead later in the quarter before jumpers from Tangen and Fix swung the lead back to St. Olaf.

Yagodinski sank a pair of three-pointers in the second quarter to help St. Olaf to a 34-27 lead at halftime. The Oles committed nine turnovers in the quarter but limited the Auggies to four made field goals to go into the locker room up by seven following a half that saw St. Olaf shoot 54.5 percent (12-for-22).

In the third, the Oles held Augsburg to just three made field goals to extend their lead to 48-35 heading into the fourth. The Auggies, who were 0-for-7 from three-point range in the quarter, trimmed their deficit to five twice early in the third, but could not get any closer.

Tangen was 5-for-5 from the field on her way to 15 fourth-quarter points, as St. Olaf broke the game open by outscoring Augsburg by a 26-10 margin over the final 10 minutes. The Auggies never got within 13 points over the final quarter thanks to 10-for-16 (62.5 percent) shooting by the Oles.
