Huskey Records Double-Double for Second-Straight Game

ATLANTA – After scoring more than 80 points in back-to-back games, Maryville fell to tournament host Oglethorpe 51-41 on Saturday.
 
Emma Huskey led the Scots with 11 points and recorded a team-high 13 rebounds to complete her second-straight double-double. She recording 16 points and 15 rebounds in Friday's big win over Birmingham-Southern,
 
Following Huskey, Ella Haney tallied 10 points and Courtney Carruthers finished with nine. For Carruthers, this marks the first game this season, and the first time since November 30, 2021, versus Berea (24 games), that she has failed to score 10 or more points.
 
After picking up season-highs in field goal percentage each of the past two games, including 48.6 percent (36-for-74) against Birmingham-Southern, MC shot a season-low 26.3 percent (15-for-57) in Saturday's loss. Oglethorpe was more efficient from the field, shooting 37 percent (20-for-54).
 
Maryville fared much better in the second half, scoring 27 points in the final 20 minutes, compared to just 14 in the first half. Unfortunately, when the Scots stepped up on offense, so did the Stormy Petrels. Oglethorpe scored 30 points in the second half compared to 21 in the first.
 
MC held the edge on the boards, outrebounding the Stormy Petrels 43-39, in thanks to an 18-12 advantage in offensive rebounds.
 
Looking ahead, the Scots travel to Daytona Beach, Florida, to compete in the Daytona Beach Shootout. They face off against Wheaton (Mass.) on Wednesday at 3 p.m. and Randolph on Thursday at 1 p.m.
