Manchester Falls at Franklin on Saturday

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Manchester women's basketball team fell on the road against Franklin College on Saturday, December 10th. The Grizzlies won Saturday's contest 57-45. 

Franklin was able to grab an early lead thanks to a 10-2 run. Manchester would fight back, cutting the Grizzlies lead to 16-12 at the end of the first quarter. The Grizzlies jumped another big run to start the second quarter, but MU was able to fight back, cutting Franklin's lead 28-23 at the half. 

Franklin was able to hold-off the Spartans, going into the final quarter of play up 46-37. The Grizzlies would win Saturday's contest 57-45 and improve to 4-3, 2-1 HCAC. 

Taylor Cooney led the Grizzlies with 18 points and 4 assists during Saturday's game. Georgia Hanauer finished the day with 10 points and a team-high 9 rebounds for Franklin. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 40.4% from the field and 60.0% from the free throw line.

Bridget Nash (Carmel, Ind., Bishop Chatard) led the Spartans with 14 points on the day. Maddi Smith (Kewanna, Ind., Castonchipped in 9 points, while senior Hannah Lindsey (Speedway, Ind., Speedway) had a team-high 8 rebounds for the Black and Gold. As a team, MU shot 27.6% from two-point range and 62.5% from the free throw line. Manchester falls to 5-3, 2-1 HCAC following Saturday's loss. 

The Spartans are set to host the #3 ranked Transylvania Pioneers on Monday, December 19th. Manchester will tip-off against Transylvania at 1:00 p.m. in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
