Derosia, Freedman Pick Up LEC Postseason Awards

More news about: Keene State

PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Junior Hailey Derosia and senior Jenny Freedman were both honored in the Little East Conference postseason awards program, announced today by the conference office.  Derosia was named First Team All-LEC, while Freedman was named to the LEC All-Defensive Team.

Derosia (Vernon, Vt.) appeared in 22 games this year, starting 21, while averaging a team high 11 points per game, with 4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.6 steals per contest.  Shooting 43.5% from the field, she hit double-figure scoring in 14 games, including a career high 23 points against UMass Boston on February 18.  She also had a triple-double in the second game of the season, with 17 points, 13 assists, and 13 rebounds in a victory over Westfield State.    She ends her junior season needing 410 points to become the 21st female player in school history to reach 1,000.  It's the second straight year Derosia has been named to the First Team All-LEC, and she becomes just the fourth player in school history to become a multiple First Team honoree, joining Sarah Begnoche (2005-06, 2006-07), Kristin Degou (2008-09, 2009-10), and Courtney Cirillo (2010-11, 2011-12).

Freedman (North Hampton, N.H.) started all 24 games this year, playing more minutes (33.8) than anyone else on the squad.  She averaged a career high 6.2 points per game, along with 3.1 assists, 1.8 steals, and 2.9 rebounds per game, while often guarding the opposition's top ball handler.  Freedman is the first All-LEC Defensive team player for Keene State in five years; the most recent winners were Stephanie D'Annolfo and Lydia Vital - both in the 2016-17 season.
