BOSTON -- Kaylee Beyor led all scorers with a career-high 21 points as the University of New England defeated Suffolk University, 77-55, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball action Tuesday evening (Feb. 8) at Smith Court.

It was the fourth straight win for the Nor'easters (13-8), maintaining the hold on second place in the conference standings at 11-3. When the teams first met, back on December 1, UNE led for all of 11 seconds in a 54-52 decision against the Rams (14-6, 8-5 CCC).

The victory marked number 300 for 15th-year head coach Anthony Ewing, who has guided the program for 399 games. He entered the season with the 12th-ranked winning percentage among active coaches in Division III.

Beyor was one shy of her personal best at halftime, with 17, and finished making seven field goals and 7-of-8 free throws to go along with eight rebounds. Abby Cavallaro splashed 5-of-7 from downtown to tally 19 points, and registered six caroms and three assists. Allie Goodman stuffed the stat sheet with a double-double of 16 points and game-high 10 boards, as well as six assists, three steals, and a pair of blocks.

Jordyn Franzen, who added nine points and three steals, collected another eight rebounds to support a 48-39 advantage on the glass. The Nor'easters out-scored their opponent by nine behind the arc (24-15) and by 13 at the charity stripe (15-2), while limiting the hosts to just 33 percent shooting accuracy from the floor.

Natalie Fraioli topped the Rams with 16 points. Jenni-Rose DiCecco and Amanda DeAngelis contributed 11 and 10, respectively.

After the game's initial score went for Suffolk, UNE took a 13-5 edge and never trailed again. The Rams did use the last two minutes of the 1st quarter to pull back even at 13-all, and were still level at 19-19 with 7:11 left in the 2nd, but then the Nor'easters surged forward. The visitors notched 29 of the next 36 points -- largely behind 10 from Beyor and nine by Goodman -- to seize a 48-26 cushion with 7:52 remaining in the 3rd period. UNE's defense held Suffolk to 3-of-13 from the floor and forced eight turnovers during the stretch, which included a 41-26 halftime margin.

The Rams closed to within 55-42 in the latter portion of the 3rd, only to see the Nor'easters run off the ensuing nine and settle on a 64-45 spread through 30 minutes.
