BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England had five players reach double figures in an 86-52 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball triumph over Nichols College on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 30) at Coach Beaudry's Court inside the Harold Alfond Forum.

With the season sweep of the Bison, the Nor'easters move to 10-8 overall and 8-3 in league play.

Jordyn Franzen topped the balanced UNE scoring effort with 16 points and nine rebounds. Kaylee Beyor added 15 points, and Allie Goodman went for 14 points, a season-best 11 rebounds, and five assists. Abby Cavallaro also posted a double-double with 13 points and a career-high 10 assists. Playing for the first time in nearly two months, Katrina Krenzer came off the bench to register 12 points and seven boards.

Sierra Tartre dished out another six assists, as the Nor'easters helped on a season-high 77 percent of their made baskets (27). The hosts also commanded the glass to the tune of 63-40, and converted 18 offensive caroms into 27 second-chance points.

For Nichols (7-10, 3-7 CCC), Abrianna Vazquez had 20 points and seven rebounds. Leandra Ortiz tossed in 13 points.

UNE's defense limited the Bison to just 22.5 percent shooting in the contest (16-for-71), and only 2-of-32 from long range.

The Nor'easters never trailed after an opening trey from Franzen, and soon ran off a 20-2 stretch that pushed the spread to 23-4. It was 26-10 through the 1st quarter, and 46-24 by halftime, at which time Franzen and Goodman had already combined for 23 points (13 and 10) and 18 boards (8 and 10). UNE increased the margin to 71-37 through 30 minutes; to that point, the hosts were connecting at a 48 percent clip from the field (31-for-64).
