MEDFORD, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's basketball team got back on the winning track on Thursday night, posting a 65-47 victory over Lesley University in non-conference action at Medford High School.

The Mariners, who snapped a three-game losing skid, improved to 5-4 on the year. Le'Sandra Turner led the way with 15 points, eight rebounds and five steals while Yasmine Santos and Alexia Watson added 11 points apiece. Tianna Sweeney chipped in nine points and nine boards in her first career start.

With the score tied 16-16 after the first quarter, Mitchell took control in the second as Turner heated up. The senior guard netted seven points in the period, and the Mariners outscored their hosts to the tune of 19-6.

Mitchell didn't let Lesley back in the game in the second half, extending the lead to as many as 19. The Mariners finished the contest with a 46-25 edge on the glass, and their bench outscored Lesley's by a 14-3 margin.

The meeting was the first of three scheduled between the teams this season. However, only the next two games against Lesley will count toward the conference standings.

Mitchell returns to action on Saturday, December 11 at Emerson College. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
