#10 DePauw Stays Unbeaten with Win over Wittenberg

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw shot 69 percent from the floor over the middle two quarters and outscored Wittenberg, 54-25, during that span on the way to an 83-57 North Coast Athletic Conference win. The host Tigers, ranked sixth in the latest coache' poll and 10th by D3hoops.com, improved to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg dropped to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

The teams battled to a 15-15 tie after the first quarter and DePauw used a 10-2 run to extend a one-point lead to nine at 30-21 with 6:11 left in the first half. The visiting Tigers were within seven before DePauw closed the half with an 8-3 stretch to take a 40-28 advantage into the intermission.

Wittenberg was still within 10 twice in the opening minutes of the third quarter before DePauw started to put the contest away. An 11-2 run expanded the lead to 19 and the Tigers closed the quarter with a 13-2 stretch to push the margin to 29 at 69-40 after three quarters. DePauw connected on 11-of-14 field goals in the stanza including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. The lead reached as many as 31 points early in the fourth.

Mya Shannon led five DePauw double-figure scorers with 19 points, while Maeve Summerville followed with 12 and a career-high equaling nine rebounds. Maura Fitzgerald, Ava Hassel and Moira McGinley each added 10 points and Grace Kinsey dished out a career-high nine assists.

Abigail Yunker paced Wittenberg with 14 points and six rebounds and Delaney Williams added 11 points. 

DePauw shot 48.3 percent from the field to Wittenberg's 35.9 percent and the hosts held a 42-28 rebounding edge.

DePauw hosts Oberlin on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a battle of 8-0 teams and the final two unbeaten in the NCAC standings.
