For the 30th time in team history, the Hope College women's basketball team hit the century mark in scoring, soaring past Edgewood College, 104-59, in Friday's season opener at DeVos Fieldhouse.

The win marked the top-ranked Flying Dutch's 46th in a row, extending the school record yet again.

"I liked the energy we played with, the press was effective. We shot the ball well today, and shared the ball well today," head coach Brian Morehouse said.

Hope advanced to face the University of Mount Union (Ohio) in the TIp-Off Tournament championship game on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 3 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse. Mount Union (1-0) downed North Central College (Illinois), 75-59, in Friday's first game.

Against Edgewood (0-1), Hope raced out to a 39-10 lead during the first quarter. The 39 points were the most scored in a quarter at DeVos Fieldhouse by the Flying Dutch — topping the previous record by five points.

During the first 10 minutes, Hope made 61.5% of its field-goal attempts (16-26). The 16 completed shots were more than the Eagles had attempted (9).

"I think we really stepped on the gas in the first half when we had the chance," said Morehouse. "I thought we played with a good pace on offense, and we kept the ball moving."

Hope pushed the led at the half to 63-21.

The Flying Dutch had 22 steals as a team, with senior forward Olivia Voskuil (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) leading with six, matching her career-high.

Senior Hannah Smith from Midland, Michigan (Midland) heavily contributed to the overall total, completing five steals in the first home game.

All 15 players scored for the Flying Dutch. Three scored in double digits: Voskuil led the Flying Dutch with 15 points. Junior Savannah Feenstra (Osceola, Indiana / Northwood) scored 14 points; and senior Kenedy Schoonveld of Zeeland, Michigan (Holland Christian) tallied 12 points.
