Fighting Squirrels Top Greensboro, 87-44

After dropping the first game of the home-and-home series, Mary Baldwin women's basketball came out strong on Sunday, defeating Greensboro 87-44.

It was an all-around effort for MBU (1-3, 1-3 USA South) as four players scored in double digits. Jalen Gathers continued an impressive start to her sophomore year, leading all scorers with 19 points.  Demet Saygili had 13, while Mary Moran had 12 and Nicole Mallon had 10.

MBU dominated from the start, beginning the game on an 11-0 run. From there they would never look back. The Fighting Squirrels took a 40-15 lead into the half.

The second half saw more of the same, as MBU outscored the Pride 47-29 to take the win.

Egypt Alexander led Greensboro (1-3, 1-3 USA South) with 14 points.  

Mary Baldwin heads to Raleigh, N.C. on Friday to take on William Peace at 6:00 p.m.
