Brooklyn Pulls Away in Second Half to Defeat Baruch

The Baruch College Bearcats lost 83-68 against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College in a CUNYAC home contest on Wednesday night.

The two teams played a very competitive first half with the Bulldogs leading 38-36 at the break.

Both teams came out firing in the second half, but the Bulldogs managed to take control by hitting 4 of their first 5 three-point attempts to jump ahead, 50-43.

Sameera Ahmed would later hit a jumper to get as close as 51-47, but the Bulldogs responded by scoring the next seven points to lead 58-47.

The Bearcats got as close as six at the start of the fourth quarter. They could not get any closer in the tough home loss that keeps Brooklyn undefeated in the CUNYAC (12-0).

Nia Dawson led the Bearcats with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Ahmed finished with 16.

Melinda Spahiu scored 12 points and Frances Synder had 10 to round out the team's double-figure scorers this evening.

Sarah James scored 18 of her 24 points in the second half to lead the Bulldogs.
