Cortland Women Handle Fredonia, 88-53, to Retain SUNYAC Lead

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Beth Bonin (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse) made six of her seven 3-point attempts and finished with a game highs of 25 points and four assists as Cortland extended its winning streak to 14 games with an 88-53 win at Fredonia.
 
The SUNYAC-leading Red Dragons improved to 16-1 overall and 10-0 in the conference with the victory. Fredonia is now 6-11 overall and 2-8 in the SUNYAC.
 
Shannon McGuire (West Babylon) was Cortland's other double-figure scorer with 10 points, including two 3-pointers, and led the Red Dragons with six rebounds. Sarah Tully (East Aurora) finished with nine points and five rebounds and Casey Travers (Manorville/Eastport-South Manor) added eight points and a career-high five steals. Flo Hunte (Elmont/Sewanhaka) chipped in with seven points.
 
Katie Pitcher paced Fredonia with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Lauren Mickley tallied seven points and Audrey Craffey grabbed six rebounds.
 
Cortland scored nine straight points over the final four minutes of the first quarter to take a 23-13 lead. The Red Dragons then scored the first six points of the second period over a four-minute stretch to extend the lead to 29-13.
 
Cortland built its lead to 21 points at the half at 42-21 and led by at least 17 points in the third. The Red Dragons' lead grew to 32 at 69-37 after three quarters and was at least 31 points over the final 10 minutes.
 
The Red Dragons return to action Saturday at 4 p.m. at Buffalo State.
