Brynne Rolland scored a game-best 26 points on 13-of-16 shooting, but Tommie Women's Basketball dropped a close game Wednesday night at No. 19-ranked Augsburg, 60-56, in MIAC play.
The No. 17-ranked Tommies (14-4 overall, 10-3 MIAC) had a seven-game victory streak halted and had the program's 39-game MIAC road win streak snapped.
The Toms dropped into a third-place tie with Gustavus in the conference race. The Gusties lost at home to St. Ben's.
The game was tied at halftime and still deadlocked after three quarters. The Toms shot 53 percent from the floor but had 20 turnovers. They were outscored 14-4 at the foul line.
St. Thomas trailed 59-56 with a chance to tie the contest in the final 16 seconds, but tight Auggie defense prevented an open shot behind the arc. The Purple twice missed two-point jumpers on their final possession in the closing seconds.
St. Thomas plays Saturday at Gustavus.
