How it Happened
Johns Hopkins kicked off 2020 in a positive fashion, coming from behind to pick up a crucial road victory over Lynchburg on Saturday night.

Diarra Oden led the Blue Jays with 24 points on the night, shooting eight-for-18 from the field and knocking down seven free throws in the win. Oden was key down the stretch, scoring six points in the fourth quarter to help close out the Hornets.

Lynchburg led 15-6 after the first quarter and extended it to 18-6 early in the second quarter before the Blue Jays ended the first half on a 17-6 run, cutting the deficit to 24-23 at the break. Freshman Aleah Spruell scored five points in the quarter, knocking down a three-pointer to make it 21-15 with 3:09 remaining. Oden followed with a three of her own less than a minute later, cutting the deficit to three. The sophomore guard ended the half with an and-one with seven seconds remaining and sent the Blue Jays into the locker room down by just one.

Lynchburg raced out to an early seven-point lead in the third quarter, but a 7-0 run ending with a pair of Halie Egan free throws tied the game at 30 with less than five to play in the quarter. Erin Walsh hit a jumper just before the buzzer, cutting the Lynchburg lead to a single point once again.

Hopkins outscored the Hornets 18-12 in the fourth quarter to come away victorious. After JHU took a  47-44 lead, Carolyn Noe knocked down a triple to tie the game for the final time with 5:07 left to play. Oden hit a jumper on the next possession and the Blue Jays never gave the lead back.
