Baruch Drops CUNYAC Opener at Hunter

The Baruch College Bearcats lost their CUNYAC opener, 87-52, to the Hawks of Hunter College on Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex in uptown New York City.

The host Hawks started the game jumping out to a 27-15 lead after one quarter and shot 52% to lead 49-26 at halftime.

The Bearcats battled throughout the second half but could not chip away at the deficit.

Nia Dawson led the visiting Bearcats with 18 points, while Daniela Zirpolo had 10 points and five rebounds. Melinda Spahiu dished out five assists.

Phoebe Valenton led five Hawks in double-figure scoring with 18 points. 

The Bearcats will now go on Final Exam/Holiday Break (Dec. 11 game at Farmingdale was canceled). They will resume the second half of their season on Monday, December 30, at home against Ramapo College.
