Bearcats 3-0, Defeat St.Joseph's (LI) 79-64

The Bearcats took on St. Joseph's College (Long Island) in their third game of the season and won, 79-64, on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats had a great offensive second half after getting off to a slow start.

They had four players in double-figure scoring and were led by sophomore guard Nia Dawson with 20 points. Dawson also had a double-double with 10 rebounds.

The Bearcats also had three other players with near double-doubles: Melinda Spahiu (18pts, 9rbs), Frances Snyder (16pts, 9rbs), and Daniela Zirpolo (8pts, 10rbs).

Zirpolo also added five blocks defensively, while Spahiu had six steals. Sameera Ahmed contributed 15 points.

For the Golden Eagles, this was their first game of their season and it clearly showed. In the first two quarters, they had 10 turnovers (19 total) and shot 29% from the field. Their only bright spot was their ability to shoot the three-pointer in the second half, going 5-of-9 (56%) from behind-the-arc.

Alyssa Signor led their team and the game with 25 points on 10-for-22 shooting.

The Bearcats are now off to a 3-0 start to the season, which is their best start since 2012-13.
