William Paterson Drops Season Finale to TCNJ, 64-48

EWING, N.J. – Senior guard Julie Rovito (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) led all players with 18 points, but William Paterson (12-13, 8-10 NJAC) was unable to keep pace with The College of New Jersey (17-8, 15-3 NJAC), falling to the Lions 64-48 in the season finale.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • WP shot just 3-of-16 (.188) in the opening frame as TCNJ held a 19-7 advantage after 10 minutes. Behind six points from Justina Cabezas (Carlstadt, N.J./Becton Regional ) in the second quarter, the Pioneers were able to cut the deficit to single digits and trailed 31-19 with 3:05 left on the clock. However, the Lions would score the final five points of half and led 36-19 at the break.
  • Rovito scored 15 of her 18 points after intermission, but the Lions continued to pull away from the Pioneers with the hosts leading by as many as 23 (64-41) en route to the 64-48 conference win.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Rovito registered her 19th double-digit scoring output of the season. The senior closes out her career with 1,276 points, good for 14th place WP's all-time list.
  • Cabezas finished a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, tying her season-high with eight points, while Brianna Brooks (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saddle Brook) also added eight tallies.
  • Defensively, senior CeCe Green (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) led the team with six rebounds and three steals.
