(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – The second-ranked Thomas More University women's basketball team remained undefeated today (Saturday, January 26, 2019) as it defeated Geneva College, 90-57, inside Metheny Fieldhouse in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.  The Saints improve to 23-0 and the Golden Tornadoes fall to 2-16.

FIRST HALF:

  • Thomas More built a 30-9 lead after the first quarter and led 53-23 at halftime.
  • The Saints shot 69.7 percent (23-of-33) from the field, including 50.0 percent (six-of-12) from behind the three-point arc.
  • The Saints had a 16-5 advantage on points off turnovers, 28-6 in the paint and 12-5 on fast breaks.
  • Senior guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) led the team as she had 20 points, six rebounds and five assists.
  • Junior guard Kaela Saner (Florence, Ky./Boone County) added 11 points.
  • Sophomore guard Briana McNutt (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) tallied six points.
  • Sophomore guard Hayden White (Milford, Ohio/Milford) added six points.

SECOND HALF:

  • Thomas More led by as many as 44 points (70-26) in the second half and led 72-35 after three quarters before posting the 90-57 victory.
  • 15 Saints played in the second half and nine Saints scored.
  • In the half, the Saints had a 16-12 advantage in the paint and 12-6 off turnovers.
  • Saner scored 7 seven points in the half.
  • Sophomore guard Syarra Sellers (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) added seven points and six rebounds.
  • First-year forward Megan Buckner (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) had six points in the closing half.

NOTABLES:

  • Thomas More shot 57.4 percent (39-of-68) from the field.
  • The Saints outscored the Golden Tornadoes 44-18 in the paint, 28-11 off turnovers and 18-14 on fast breaks.
  • Temple led the Saints as she scored 23 points as she shot 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the floor and pulled down eight rebounds, dished out eight assists and had two steals.
  • Saner shot 77.8 percent (seven-of-nine) from the field, including 66.7 percent (four-of-six) from the behind the three-point arc for 18 points and had three steals.
  • Senior forward Shelby Rupp (Milan, Ind./Batesville) finished with seven points, three rebounds and a blocked shot.
  • Sellers finished with seven points and six rebounds.
