EMU Women Cruise Past Ferrum, 68-39

FERRUM, VA --- The EMU basketball women ended their three-game losing streak on Saturday, beating Ferrum on the road by a score of 68-39.

The Royals got out in front early and led the rest of the way shooting their best percentage from the floor of the season at 45.9% (28-61) and 28.6% (6-21) from three while the Panthers shot 26.5% (13-49) and 14.3% (4-28) from behind the arc.

EMU jumped to a 24-14 lead after the first half behind the offense of Lexi Dean (Elkton, Va./East Rockingham) who had 10 points.

The Royals started the second half on an 8-0 run with Chrissy Delawder (Broadway, Va./Broadway) leading the way for EMU. The Royals finished with 25 points in the quarter to pull ahead 49-25 entering the fourth quarter.

EMU was able to get the whole team involved off the bench in the fourth quarter. Constance Komara (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) added six points and Cheyenne Suamataia-Teo (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) snagged four rebounds as the Royals coasted to the final buzzer.

Dean finished as EMU's leading scorer with 17 points and also had six rebounds. Delawder had her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Kelsey Mosley and Jessy Nichols both had nine points for Ferrum.

Next game for the women is Saturday, December 15, as they host St. Mary's (Md.) at 2:00pm in Yoder Arena.
