William Paterson Women's Basketball Earns First Victory of the Season, Downs Delaware Valley 62-48

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Senior guard Julie Rovito led all scorers with 17 points and classmate Carolyn Hill chipped in 14 as the William Paterson women's basketball team (1-1) registered a 62-48 triumph over Delaware Valley (2-1) in the opening game of the Scotty Wood Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Following a tightly-contested first quarter, WP used an 11-4 burst, capped off by an Anaajah White three-pointer, to pull ahead by nine (25-16, 5:43) late in the first half. A 13-4 rally helped Delaware Valley tie things up at 29-29, but Chloe Kasbarian's trey at the buzzer gave the Pioneers a 32-29 edge at intermission.  
  • Starting with a Rovito three-pointer, William Paterson began the third quarter on a 14-2 run and never looked back, cruising to a convincing 62-48 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Senior guard Alisa Giordano joined Rovito and Hill in double-digit scoring, adding 10 tallies.
  • WP outrebounded Del Val by a 39-31 margin, including 15-4 on the offensive glass.
  • The Pioneers outscored the Aggies 24-7 in bench points.
