WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Delaware Valley University 79, Stockton University 47

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team shot 45.2-percent from the field, including 52.4-percent from 3-point land, while holding Stockton University to just 30.9-percent shooting, to earn a convincing 79-47 non-conference victory in its 2018-19 season opener.

The Aggies (1-0) began the game with a 13-0 run and did not relinquish the lead all game as they led by as many as 43 points early in the fourth quarter.

DelVal outscored the Ospreys (0-1), 27-10 in the first quarter, and held the visiting team to just four points on 2-of-17 shooting in the second, to take a 42-16 lead at halftime. Ashley Smink led the team with 14 points in the first half including a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.

The Aggie forced Stockton into 18 turnovers in the game and out-rebounded it 45-38. Smink finished with a game-high 25 points and shot 4-for-6 from deep while also grabbing five boards and four assists. Senior Danielle Skedzielewski notched 21 points, and was perfect from beyond the arc. She added four steals and three assists, and junior transfer Dom Moser had 15 points in the game as that trio accounted for 71-percent of the team's total points. Moser also pitched in with a game-high six assists and five steals to go with six boards.

Lauren Moretti started the game and scored eight points and hit 1-of-2 treys. Freshman Emily Kutskel rounded out the starting-five and led the team with eight rebounds. Sarah Wills came off the bench and hit a pair of three's for six points in the game.

Stockton was led by Kirsten Flournoy's 18 points and five rebounds and April Peterson followed with 11 points and eight boards. Colleen Brady did not score in the game but did grab eight rebounds and four steals while Natalie Miller came off the bench to contribute nine points.

The Aggies will be back in action on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they host Rowan University.
