BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Katherine Tamulionis (Foxboro, Mass.) scored 17 of her career-high 19 points in the first half and third-seeded Babson College shot 53.1 percent on its way to defeating sixth-seeded Emerson College, 85-57, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament quarterfinal on Wednesday night at Staake Gymnasium.

With its third straight win, Babson (18-8) advances to the conference semifinals for the 10th consecutive season. Emerson, which was making its first NEWMAC Tournament appearance since 2015, ends the year at 11-15 overall.

Senior Brenna LeGacy (Attleboro, Mass.) finished with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while junior Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) added 10 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists for the Beavers. Classmate Tea Spellacy (Belchertown, Mass.) also chipped in with nine points, six boards, five assists and four steals in the victory.

Sophomore Quinn Madden (Mokena, Ill.) scored 12 points and junior Charlie Boyle (Scotts Valley, Calif.) finished with 11 points and five rebounds for the Lions.

Babson made eight of its first 11 shots and built a 17-8 advantage six minutes into the contest. Emerson got as close as six twice, but Tamulionis and junior Elizabeth Lane (Skaneateles, N.Y.) knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to push the margin to 26-13 after one quarter.

The Beavers scored on four of their first six possessions to begin the second quarter, and then blew the game open with an 18-2 spurt over the final 5:30 of the half. Sophomore Jacqueline Jozefick (Milford, Conn.) and Lane buried consecutive triples to make it 42-18, and the Green and White closed the frame with 10 straight points to extended its edge to 52-20 going to the locker room.

Babson shot 58.3 percent over the opening 20 minutes, which included a 7-of-10 effort from beyond the arc, and scored 25 points off of 15 Emerson turnovers.

LeGacy scored four straight points and Tamulionis knocked down a jumper to give the Green and White its biggest advantage of the night at 60-25 with 6:57 to go in the third quarter. The Green and White went 8-of-16 from the floor in the frame and matched its biggest lead at 71-36 on a three-pointer by Jozefick with 1:19 to go in the period.

The Lions shot 50 percent in the fourth quarter and got as close as 80-53 on a three-pointer by sophomore Leena Kardacz (Harleysville, Pa.) with under three minutes to go.

The Beavers outscored Emerson 38-20 in the paint and finished the night with 38 points off of 27 Lions' turnovers.

Babson returns to action on Saturday when it takes on second-seeded WPI in a 3:30 p.m. semifinal at Smith College.

• The Beavers are 9-0 all-time against Emerson and have now won eight of the games by double digits.
• Babson's 28-point margin of victory is tied for its third largest in conference tournament history, and was the biggest since 2010's 49-point (75-26) quarterfinal win over Coast Guard.

• Babson has now won 75 straight games when scoring 75 or more points going back to 2008.
